Koshi® & Zaphir® Wind Chimes – Original Handcrafted Sound
Koshi or Zaphir – What Is the Difference?
Koshi and Zaphir are often mentioned in the same breath, and they share a great deal. Both are tuned musical instruments with eight metal rods inside the tube and both are used the world over for meditation, yoga practise and sound healing. They are made by different workshops, though, and they have distinct voices.
The Koshi is built on a bamboo body, which gives it a warm, soft tone that feels rounded and intimate. The Zaphir is built on a cellulose resonance tube, which gives it a brighter, crystal-clear sound that sparkles. Neither is better than the other; they simply suit different rooms and different moods. A Koshi tends to sink gently into a quiet space, while a Zaphir adds light and shimmer. Many practitioners keep both and reach for whichever matches the session in front of them.
The Four Koshi® Elements
Koshi Terra – Earth
Warm and grounding, the Koshi Terra carries the tuning G C E F G C E G and resonates with the Root Chakra (Muladhara), conveying stability, security and a deep connection with nature. In Feng Shui it supports Prosperity, Relationships and Helpful People. Reach for the Terra in grounding yoga sequences, meditation, stress relief and sound therapy – and as a gift for anyone seeking inner peace. Astrologically it belongs to the Earth signs Capricorn, Taurus and Virgo. Curious how Earth meets Water? Listen to Terra and Aqua together – a particularly grounding pairing.
Koshi Aqua – Water
The Koshi Aqua is made for dream journeys, deep relaxation and sound massage. Tuned to A D F G A D F A, its flowing tones harmonise with the Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) and encourage emotional flow, intuition and creativity – which also makes it a meaningful present for creative, intuitive people. Feng Shui places the Water element in the Career area, where it nourishes professional growth. The Aqua suits the Water signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces; our blog explores the symbolism of the Water element in depth. For pairings, try Aqua with Aria – flowing and light at once – or the dynamic contrast of Aqua with Ignis, Water balancing Fire.
Koshi Ignis – Fire
Powerful and energetic, the Koshi Ignis (tuning G B D G B D G A) strengthens the Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) and fosters personal power, passion and willpower. Its Feng Shui home is Fame and Recognition – the area that helps talents become visible. The Ignis accompanies mindfulness practice and sound healing, and delights energetic, passionate people, especially the Fire signs Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. Hear how Ignis and Aria ignite a vibrant melody together, or how Terra and Ignis blend Earth and Fire into warm, grounded energy.
Koshi Aria – Air
Bright and clear, the Koshi Aria resonates with the Heart Chakra (Anahata), opening the heart to compassion, lightness and inner harmony. Its tuning is A C E A B C E B. In Feng Shui the Aria harmonises with Knowledge, Family and Health as well as Creativity. It is wonderful for breathing exercises, relaxation and Yoga Savasana – a loving gift for anyone wishing to invite clarity and lightness into their life, and the natural choice for the Air signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. For a balanced duo, discover Aria and Terra – Air and Earth in harmonious unity.
The Five Zaphir® Seasons
Zaphir Crystalide – Spring
Fresh, rich green announces the Spring chime. The Zaphir Crystalide (tuning G A B D A G B D) has the brightest, lightest voice of the whole collection. Its pure sound connects to the Crown Chakra, promoting spiritual connection and awareness, while Feng Shui assigns it to Knowledge, Family and Health. A fresh companion for yoga practice and a popular gift for the star signs Aries, Taurus and Gemini. Hear Spring meet Summer in the uplifting Crystalide and Sunray pairing.
Zaphir Sunray – Summer
In brilliant golden yellow, the Zaphir Sunray sings a joyful, sunny melody in the tuning G# B C# E G# E A C#. It strengthens the Solar Plexus Chakra – personal power, confidence, joy of life – and suits the Feng Shui areas of Fame and Wellbeing. Bring it into dynamic yoga sessions or sound healing, or give it to someone who radiates energy and vitality. As the year turns, Sunray and Twilight let Summer meet Autumn in a rich, harmonious melody.
Zaphir Sufi – Late Summer
The Zaphir Sufi represents the intermediary season of Late Summer in deep, radiant purple. Tuned A G E D G E C A, it offers one of the richest, most resonant sounds of the range. The Sufi harmonises with the Third Eye (Ajna) – intuition, creativity, spiritual depth – and supports Prosperity and Creativity in Feng Shui. An extraordinary companion for deep meditation, for winding down after yoga and for sound therapy. Its most profound duet: Blue Moon and Sufi, Winter and Late Summer in one meditative pairing.
Zaphir Twilight – Autumn
Intense red-gold marks the Autumn chime. The Zaphir Twilight blends deep and high tones in the tuning E G B C E G B C, conveying both strength and emotion. It awakens the Root Chakra – courage, grounding, determination – and works in the Feng Shui areas of Relationships and Helpful People. Ideal for mindfulness training, closing yoga sequences and for anyone seeking strength and stability. Explore the balance of Crystalide and Twilight – lightness against depth – or follow Twilight into Blue Moon as Autumn passes into Winter.
Zaphir Blue Moon – Winter
With its ice-blue and gold marbled body, the Zaphir Blue Moon holds the deepest tones of all Zaphir chimes (tuning D F A B C E A# C). It supports both the Throat Chakra and the Third Eye, encouraging communication, intuition and inner clarity, and in Feng Shui it belongs to the Career area. First choice for deep meditation, relaxation before sleep, sound massage and quiet winter nights – a special winter gift. For a striking contrast, listen to Sunray and Blue Moon: Summer and Winter, light and depth in one pairing.
Zaphir Love Echo – Love & Peace
One Zaphir stands outside the seasons: the Zaphir Love Echo, dedicated to love and peace. In glamorous fuchsia and with the tuning F F# A# C F A# C C#, it harmonises with the Heart Chakra – a daily reminder of what truly matters: compassion, serenity and connection. Its delicate, heart-opening melody accompanies quiet reflection and Yoga Savasana, and makes the most loving gift for a wedding, an anniversary or someone dear to you.
Sets – All Elements, All Seasons
The Koshi 4 Elements Set unites Terra, Aqua, Ignis and Aria: each tuning keeps its own voice, yet all four play harmoniously together in any combination and span the entire chakra spectrum. On the Zaphir side, the 4 Seasons Set brings together Crystalide, Sunray, Twilight and Blue Moon, while the 5 Seasons Set adds the Sufi for the complete collection. All sets arrive in the original gift box – favourites of sound therapists, yoga studios and meditation spaces, and an extraordinary gift for special occasions. For a stylish display, we recommend the rotating ZenMotion Spin stand, available for Koshi and Zaphir sets – always within reach and beautifully decorative.

Our Koshi Blog and Zaphir Blog help you choose by star sign, Chinese element, chakra or Feng Shui, explain the spiritual meaning of wind chimes and show how the chimes combine with one another. A note on outdoor use: both chimes are generally suitable for outdoors – for the wooden Koshi, as with all wooden products, we recommend regular treatment with a suitable protective oil.
Questions fréquentes sur les carillons d'intérieur
Peut-on suspendre un carillon à l'intérieur ?
Oui.
